Priorities

My daily priorities further my life's goals.

It is so important to set priorities!  If you are anything like me, it can feel like life is moving at a thousand miles a minute.  In the old days, I would say stop the world I want to get off here!!  Today, however, it is a different story.  I love my life; chaos is very much a part of my everyday life as it was years ago.  Today, however, I do not let the chaos dictate my priorities.  Below are a few tips that have helped me to prioritize and organize my life.

Organization is the compass that keeps life on course. Choose to organize yourself daily to maximize productivity.  Each morning, make a plan for the day.  Write down a list of chores, responsibilities, and wishes.  By prioritizing the list, you will be better able to start your day focused keeping your ultimate goals in mind.  Or if you prefer, make your list each evening before you end your day.  Remember to check off your accomplishments.

Here are some intentions you can set at the beginning of each day:

  • I spend my time doing things that will further my life’s goals.
  • I invest time in renewing my strength so I may continue on my journey.
  • Insignificant activities that simply rob time from my priorities are not listed on my schedule. They have no place in my life.

You will want to remember to spend time engaging in meaningful activities.  Important things in life, such as spending quality time with family and fulfilling obligations at work.  What is your big picture?  What do you need to exclude?  What activities only serve to distract from your ultimate purpose?

Every individual step we take is part of a greater journey.  View each decision made today as an investment in the future.  This is one way of telling yourself that you are serious about your success.

Make the conscious choice to move forward with every step keeping future goals in mind.  You CAN stay focused even when others try to entice you or distract you from your goals.

Try this affirmation:

I plan my activities to minimize wasted time.  Having a plan keeps me accountable to myself and to others.  Reflecting at the end of the day helps me increase my productivity the next day.  When I choose to maintain my priorities, not only do I get closer to my goals, but I also open my mind to achieve success beyond my imagination.

Journal  Questions:

  1. How will I better organize my life, today?
  2. What can I do to ensure my task list is focused on my ultimate goals?
  3. How can I be more accountable for how I spend my time?
